About Us
Welcome to Cambridge RIVERS’ EDGE GARDENERS!
We are one of the newest and fastest growing societies, incorporated under the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in Ontario, in 2017. “Why are so many people in the Cambridge area joining our enthusiastic group?”
1. Price per member: for only $15 per adult and $5 per youth under 18 for a year-long program
2. Our mission statement: “To provide opportunities for friends and family to embrace nature and build partnerships”.
In other words:
- lots of exciting activities throughout the year
- inclusive for everyone- children, parents, grandparents, friends
- concerned for all of nature– bugs, bees, butterflies, birds, trees, flowers…
- working as a partner within this wonderful community
3. Year-round events:
A. Included with Membership:
- Presentations– Interesting presenters share their information at Temple Baptist Church, 400 Holiday Inn Drive, Cambridge (New Location for Fall 2026) unless otherwise noted. *See Events Page* for more details. Social time from 6:15 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:45 p.m. Refreshments and finger foods served. Includes the months of September, October, November, February, and March
- Regular Communications will keep you interested and informed of all our activities via our twice yearly Program booklet, newsletters, photo albums and email updates
- Program Booklet- Printed seasonally (May to September, October to April) All Members receive a detailed booklet outlining all the activities/events with details about each and every Garden Walk, Excursion, Activity, Presentation meeting, etc.
- Garden Walks– Walk 2-4 gardens Weekly from the end of May to mid August, enjoy a large variety of self-guided tours of local private gardens and/or local businesses/farms every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., rain or shine. There are so many amazing Local businesses to see this year. Farms for bees and honey, berries, lavender, hazelnuts and more. Get your program booklet for more details!
- Excursions– an opportunity to visit various businesses in the Cambridge area (2025 included a Bee Sweet Pollinator Festival visit and a guided tour through Langdon Hall gardens) 2026 we will return to the Bee Sweet Nature Co. and Bee Sweet Festival, Greenbelt Microgreens and Organics. See Event Page and 2026 Spring/Summer Program for details.
- Anniversary Celebration – A Members Only event to celebrate our Members! Space is Limited. RSVP to attend. Located at different locations each year with complimentary refreshments and food (2025 had record numbers come out to enjoy a Haskap berry wine tasting, ice cream with Haskap berry sauce at Blue Gables Acres Winery) 2026 we will visit Glenridge Hazelnuts!
- Volunteer Appreciation Dinner– We celebrate everyone who volunteers their time to help make all of our activities possible. We provide all volunteers from the TeaTime event and Garden Walks with a Complimentary Meal, put on by the Board at a beautiful property. By Invitation only.
B. For a minimal cost:
- “Homes for the Holidays Tour”– during two days at the end of November, enjoy touring private Cambridge area homes seasonally decorated both inside and outside
- Tea Time-Just before Mother’s Day in April, a delightful afternoon of sweet and savoury food, tea and all the fixings while being entertained by 2 informative presenters
